KOCHI: The reconstruction of the motor bays of the North Rail Overbridge (RoB) is expected to be completed in nine months, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) project director P Sriram said.Briefing mediapersons here on Friday, he said that the dismantling of both the bays was complete. “The piling work for reconstructing the bays has begun on Friday. The reconstruction work is expected to be completed within nine months.Once both the wings of the bridge are reconstructed, the main bridge will be demolished,” Sriram said. Regarding reports that the construction of a garage near KSRTC bus-stand had been entrusted with the Kerala Roads and Bridges Development Corporation (RBDCK), Sriram clarified that it was not the garage but the inspection ramp that the RBDCK was going to construct.“The work on the garage will be carried out by the DMRC.However, the construction of the ramp has been entrusted with RBDCK at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh,” Sriram said.Later, Kochi Metro Rail Limited Managing Director Tom Jose told ‘Express’ that the RBDCK was entrusted with this major work as DMRC expressed its inability to take it up. “The construction of the ramp is expected to be completed within 45 days,” Jose added.
