New Delhi: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Muhammad Sayeed arrived in Jammu on Friday evening from New Delhi and drove home in a private vehicle days after surrendering his and his daughter's personal security cover.
With that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also arrived in Jammu from Srinagar and used a private vehicle to reach her residence. She is also refusing to carry personal security with her.
Following the suit, other PDP MLAs had also written to the CM, seeking withdrawal of personal security given to them.
In a letter to Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sayeed had said PDP had always maintained that a dignified solution to the problems of Jammu and Kashmir could come only through dialogue and peaceful means.
Former deputy chief minister and senior leader Muzzaffar Hussain Baig had said withdrawal of security by party leaders, including Sayeed, Mehbooba and all 24 legislators does not carry any malafide intentions.
While refuting National Conference's reaction, which termed 'security withdrawal as political drama', Baig said the coalition government is running the affairs with unanimous approach of all its partners.
Meanwhile, party sources said a meeting of its political affairs committee has been called on Saturday to discuss the current political situation in the state.
