New Delhi: It looks like the mission to Pakistan is churning out fruitful results.
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, on Saturday, invited families of Indian prisoners of war believed to be held in Pakistani jails to search for them.
Musharraf's invitation comes at a crucial time with the visit of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Mukherjee conveyed to him the anxiety of the kin of POWs and urged him to take immediate action to locate them.
Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon was quoted by news agecy PTI as saying that Musharraf responded by saying that he was "very deeply concerned" about the matter and, being a soldier, he understood the concerns of the families of the POWs.
"We will go home and talk to the families (of POWs) so that they come (to Pakistan) and reassure themselves." PTI quoted Menon as saying.
But how much of that is true is still to be seen because Musharraf had made similar offers even in the past.
The Pakistan government had also said that inquiries conducted by it had revealed that no Indian POWs were currently in its jails.
