The mystery over the identity of 19-year-old girl Asha, who pushed out of a train near Maddur by four persons has been solved.
Officials of Women and Child Welfare department traced her mailing address.
The victim hails from a village in T Narsipur taluk of Mysore and has grandmother and brother.
Initially, Asha did not co-operate with the police and department officials and giving them false address of Mysore and Hubli. She had also claimed that she worked in a garment factory.
However, during the counselling she revealed her true identity and also about her other relatives living in her native village.
Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director Vimala told Express that the department officials have met her grandmother and brother.
According to Vimala, they hail from a humble background.
Asha had left her house claiming that she has got a job in the city.
She will be discharged in a couple of days and would be taken to Sadara, a rehabilitation centre in the city.
“We will send her only if the grandmother and relatives assure that she would be taken care at home,” Vimala added. Meanwhile, Asha was not too happy about shifting to rehabilitation centre.
She insisted that she will stay with one of her friends in Mysore.
Compensation for Asha: Muniyappa
Union Minister of State for Railway K H Muniyappa has assured compensation to 19-year-old Asha, who was pushed out of a train near Maddur by four molesters . He said that the Railway Department will look into provisions that help injured victim, who is recovering at VIMS hospital. Speaking to press persons here on Saturday, he said that special security will be extended to women passengers and directed the officers to step up security in trains. He told that the department will deploy more Railway Protection Force and government railway police in both long and short distance trains for security. He added that the number of compartments for women may be increased.
