New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is scheduled to appear in a Patiala House court on Wednesday for hearing on the defamation case filed against him by former Janata Dal United leader Sabir Ali, for calling the latter a terrorist.
After the annulment of his membership by the BJP, expelled JDU spokesperson Sabir Ali, the leader had said that he would file a defamation case against BJP's Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who had claimed that Ali had links with Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal.
Ali's membership was cancelled following pressure from the party leaders and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh after Naqvi had alleged that Ali harboured close links with arrested IM terrorist Yasin Bhatkal, adding that his induction will weaken the BJP's stand against terrorism. Naqvi also said that Ali's induction was akin to Dawood Ibrahim being given a BJP ticket. "Terrorist Bhatkal friend joins BJP. Soon accepting Dawood," Naqvi had tweeted in March early this year.
