HYDERABAD: After arresting four persons reportedly involved in manufacturing and transporting a narcotic substance, ephedrine, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials have found that most pharmaceutical companies located in the Jeedimetla Industrial Area and other places are involved in manufacturing the drug and exporting them to several countries via Chennai.
The DRI officials had seized ten tins of ephedrine from a pharma company worth of `30 crore. Sources said the arrested four, including two employees of Kopplem Pharma Chemicals Ltd in Jeedimetla and two traders have confessed they were manufacturing ephedrine and transporting it to various countries via Chennai for New Year bashes. The DRI officials are also said to have obtained details of supply of the drug to local outlets and other business establishments. The DRI officials are conducting further investigation.
