HYDERABAD: There will be no change in the stand of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on the Telangana statehood demand, unless and until the ruling Congress announces its own policy.Though the TDP is considering the Congress’ latest moves on Telangana, the Opposition party is unlikely to change its stand on T, which was clearly announced by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu at Mahanadu. It may be recalled that Union home minister P Chidambaram admitted that the ruling Congress did not announce its stand on Telangana. After the Congress’ reveals its stand on T, the Centre may ask the opinion of TDP and YSR Congress. As of now, the TDP has adopted a two-eye policy - i.e. giving freedom to leaders of both Seemandhra and Telangana to act as per the aspirations of the people of their respective regions.Though the TDP politburo adopted a resolution in favour of Telangana in 2008, the party is not pushing it now. The TDP did not withdraw the resolution either. Both the Congress and the TDP leaders from Andhra and Telangana submitted separate memoranda to Srikrishna Committee, in the absence of any clear stand by the respective parties on T.When asked whether the TDP too would spell out its stand on Telangana, in case the Congress announced its policy, TDP senior leader T Devender Goud said: “Let the Congress come out with its proposal. We will respond only after that.” Another leader MV Mysoora Reddy evaded a direct reply to the question on TDP’s commitment to its politburo resolution on T. He said: “Please put the question to my party president.”
