SABARIMALA: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the preliminary reports on the tremors occurred at Vagamon in Idukki district on Saturday early morning are mild in nature and there is no need to panic. Talking to newsmen at Pampa on Saturday, Chandy, who was there in connection with the inauguration of the service road built by the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham, said that an expert team had already been sent there and the report would be available on Sunday. Chandy said he would comment only after getting the report of the expert team.Chandy said the State Government would be committed to protect the people and their safety would be assured. He said the Prime Minister was responsive to the team of ministers which visited Delhi to apprise him on the Mullaperiyar issue. The team could be able to convince the Prime Minister the need for a new dam at Mullaperiyar thereby protecting the safety of the people.
