PUTTAPARTHI: The following are the questions posed by newsmen and the replies given by Satya Sai Central trust member V Srinivasan and council member Nagananda on Tuesday.Q:Why have trustees responded differently to the seizure of Rs 35.5 lakh in cash at Kodikonda Checkpost? One said it did not belong to the trust and another pointed to L&T.A: It was due to lack of proper coordination among the trust members. The money actually belonged to devotees.Q: The trust claims that donations are accepted only if given by cheque and not in cash. How come there was a pile of Rs 11 crore cash along with gold and silver in Yajurveda Mandir? A: We are not aware of that money. The Baba might have kept it for the poor and there is nothing wrong in it. After April 25 the trust has not received any donations directly and made an announcement that only cheques would be accepted.Q: You say no donation, except the Rs 35.5 lakh cash, has been received after the demise of the Baba? A: As per Public Charitable Trust norms, the trust can not build Mahasamadhi of Baba. Devotees have donated the money not to the trust but for the purpose of Mahasamadhi.Hence nothing wrong in taking money for buying materials and making payments for that purpose.Q: Why was the money shipped out that night itself? A: We sent the amount at 6 pm on June 18. Unfortunately, it was seized by the police.Q: How do you react to the state government seeking details of trust affairs and assets of the trustees? A: We are ready to furnish the information.Q: It is alleged that many VIPs kept their black money in the Mandir, and that ministers including Union home minister P Chidambaram and MPs were blind to the trust’s irregularities. Was any foreign exchange found in the Mandir? A: We are not aware of any black money or foreign exchange being there. As for ministers, every one visits the place like any other devotee.Q: What do you think of the demand for running the Satya Sai Central Trust on the lines of the TTD? A: We have no objection.Q: When was the trust formed? Was it registered under the Hindu Charitable Institutions Act ? Will you continue as its member and will there be new trustees? What do you say on differences among the trustees? Why have all the trustees attended the press meet? A: The trust was formed in 1972 and was registered as a social welfare organisation. There are no differences among trust members and all are united. We are inviting youth from Satya Sai institutions to the trust and are determined to run the social welfare programme in a more transparent manner.Q: Why is Baba’s caretaker Satyajit being gagged? A: We are not creating any obstacle to Satyajit who was very dear to Baba. He is monitoring the prestigious project, Vidya Vahini.Q: Satya Sai University receives UGC grant but is not paying proper salaries and pensions, forcing the teaching faculty to think of forming a union.A: Professors of the university do not claim salaries as per UGC norms and they are taking funds for special projects. Some retired professors have voluntarily sought less pension. Likewise, Satya Sai Hospital is meant for the poor and the doctors there are working voluntarily. There is no pressure on anyone.Q: What about charges of irregularities by the trust? There are allegations also against the White Field establishment in Bangalore? A: There are no financial irregularities.Income tax is being paid in time and we are spending Rs 50 crore on the While Field establishment.

What's your reaction?
