Amritsar: In a new twist in the suspected honour killing of NRI girl Amritpal Kaur in Amritsar, the victim's maternal aunts have accused mother Rajbir Kaur of plotting to kill her daughter.
The aunts are demanding an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the matter. They alleged that the mother and step-father Mehtab Singh, who is already in police custody, plotted to kill Amritpal.
They said that the couple had informed them of their plan to kill Amritpal.
Amritpal's boyfriend Lakhvinder Singh also alleged that her mother was also involved in killing her.
"She left for India on 25th (June 25). The family was threatening that both of us would be killed. I am 100 percent sure that her mother is also involved because her father could not have done it alone. She did not want to go to there (India) because she called and said if I don't call for two days then assume that they have killed me. After two days of responses I got a call from a number saying that she was dead. 'Do what you want want'," alleged Singh in Brussels.
Belgium-based Amritpal had fallen in love with Lakhwinder Singh, who belongs to a lower caste, and her parents didn't approve of the relationship, which is why she was allegedly killed.
