PUDUCHERRY: Dhanvantri Nagar police arrested one person in connection with the murder of Pazhani, a former constable of the Tamil Nadu police, who was found dead near Alankuppam here on Monday.Senior Superintendent of Police V J Chandran said the accused Sarathkumar (22), who was celebrating his birthday in an arrack shop near Alankuppam on Sunday night had an argument with Pazhani. After coming out of the shop in an intoxicated state, both traded a few blows. Pazhani walked away after threatening the youngster, but Sarathkumar followed and hit him with a stone after which Pazhani fell down. Sarathkumar then allegedly banged Pazhani’s head against a neem tree, which is suspected to be the cause of death. Sarathkumar has an attempt to murder case filed against him.Chandran said Pazhani was employed with TN Armed Reserve Police and was working in Chennai. He was dismissed from service two years ago. The SSP (L&O) congratulated the police team for cracking the case in 12 hours.
