HYDERABAD: The Special CBI court on Friday reserved its orders on the petitions seeking bail and a special room for VD Rajagopal, former vice-chairman and managing director of AP Mineral Development Corporation. After hearing the arguments from the both counsels, magistrate B Naga Maruthi Sharma reserved his orders for November 29.Rajgopal’s counsel K Ravinder Reddy argued that Rajgopal had no authority to allot the AGK area to Obulapuram Mining Company. The state and central governments considered OMC’s application and allotted the land for mining.‘‘Rajgopal discharged his duties only as a postman due to lack of powers when he was the vicechairman and managing director of APMDC,’’ his counsel said. With regard to B Rajasekhar, brother-in-law of Rajagopal, he argued that Rajagopal only maintained his relationship with him as his brother-in-law and nothing else.Opposing the bail petition, CBI’s deputy legal advisor B Ravindranath aruged that Rajgopal was involved in the allotment of AGK area to OMC when his brother-inlaw B Rajasekhar was one of the directors of the company.“During his interrogation by the CBI, Rajagopal revealed the names of some public servants, who were allegedly involved in the allotment of the AGK area to OMC in violation of norms and regulations,’’ he said. When Rajagopal’s counsel pleaded with the court to grant a special room in the Chanchalguda prison for the former official, the CBI’s counsel opposed it saying Rajagopal had misused his powers and had no social status which is a criteria for allotting a special room.Koneru granted special roomHYDERABAD: The Special CBI Court on Friday granted Special Room to Koneru Prasad, managing director of Stylish Homes Pvt Ltd and key accused in the Emaar-APIIC properties scam.Prasad filed a petition in the court on November 23 seeking a special-class room.
