New Delhi: As Yusuf Raza Gilani was sworn in as Prime Minister of Pakistan on Tuesday, there is growing speculation that Attorney General Malik Qayyum would be removed

Sources in Islamabad told CNN-IBN that it was Qayyum who had advised President Musharraf on imposing Emergency.

Qayyum had also argued that Parliament could not reinstate the deposed judges and that a constitutional amendment would be necessary.

Qayyum is seen as close to Musharraf.

Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif have already made clear their intention to restore ousted chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhary and 60 other judges sacked by Musharraf last November.

Sources say that Qayyum’s removal would not come as a surprise as he ought to have resigned when the election results were declared.
