Ottappalam (Kerala): National Security Adviser MK Narayanan has indicated that he suspects Pakistan's hand in the kidnap and murder of Maniappan Kutty, the driver with Afghanistan?s Border Roads Organisation (BRO) who was killed by Taliban on November 23.
Narayanan says the kidnap and murder drama was a result of a conspiracy between Pakistan and Taliban.
Addressing reporters in Ottappalam in Kerala, Narayanan said Pakistan's aim was to create a rift in the cordial relations between India and Afghanistan. However, he assured that the incident, however tragic it was, will not dampen the thaw in Indo-Afghan relations.
"It is a conspiracy, cheating and an ill-motivated act," Narayanan said.
Narayanan said that India will continue with its peacetime construction operations in Afghanistan.
He also rejected the allegations that India had not done anything to secure Kutty?s release saying that Ministry of External Affairs contacted the Afghan government as soon as the news of the kidnap broke.
But he claimed that a link could not be established with the Taliban who did not offer any chance for negotiations.
The Taliban had executed Kutty after it issued a warning to India to withdraw BRO Afghanistan.
