PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) teachers continued their indefinite strike, on Thursday, demanding disbursement of arrears due to them following implementation of the sixth pay commission.Vijayakumar, one of the leaders of the teachers, said the arrears, which was long due, had not been given to them despite several representations. Pointing out that the arrears had been disbursed to the non-teaching staff, he said discontentment was growing among the teaching faculty because of the administration’s apathy.Vijayakumar also demanded appointment of personnel to the post of principal, which had been lying vacant for the last six years. The posts of registrar and assistant registrar had also been lying vacant, he pointed out.
