Police file FIR against ex-MLA

CHENNAI: Spelling legal trouble to ex-RK Nagar MLA PK Sekar Babu, the Tondiarpet police (H3) have registered an FIR against him and four others on a complaint lodged by a night watchman of the Corporation-run Chennai Primary School in the locality. According to sources, police have registered the complaint against Sekar Babu and four others under four IPC sections-341 (wrongful restraint), 294-b (obscene acts and songs), 323 (for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (threat to cause death or grievous hurt).The FIR copy, which is available with the City Express,  said that Sekar Babu and other four persons (including one ‘Netaji’ P Ganeshan) had assaulted and used filthy language against Perambai K Shanmugam, a night watchman of the Corporation-run Chennai Primary School located at Seniyamman Koil Street, Tondiarpet for previous enmity.Shanmugam said that Sekar Babu had developed enmity against him after he approached the Madras High Court and got the (court) direction to Tondiarpet police to file a criminal case against Babu (if cognizable offence is made out after thorough enquiry with both of them) in February this year.On June 30, when Shanmugam was on duty, Sekar Babu, who saw him while coming to a public meeting arranged near the school by a political party, confronted him and assaulted for trying to maligning his reputation in the locality by going to court.It may be noted that Sekar Babu, who had switched from ADMK to DMK party few months ago, unsuccessfully contested the recent Assembly Elections from R K Nagar constituency on DMK ticket.
