KASARGOD: The railway Protection Force, RPF, and the Railway police are zeroing in on the activists of a couple of organisations which they believe were behind the recent attempt to derail trains in the district. The district office-bearers of the two organisations are under watch and their supporters are also under the scanner. The RPF and the Railway Police have identified the strongholds of these organisations and are watching their movements.A meeting of one of the organisations was held in Manjeswaram three months ago and on the same night a hexameter was placed on the track near the Manjeswaram station.A meeting of another organisation, which more or less share the same ideology, was held in Manjeswaram recently when an iron rod was placed on the loop line of Manjeswaram railway station. The iron rod was brought in a vehicle during the power outage and placed on the track which might have caused a major rail accident if not detected and removed. According to intelligence sources, the two organisations under the scanner are trying to create scare among rail passengers. It was also intended to unite and motivate all those who hold similar views of the perpetrators of the crime. The intention of the organisations was to keep the people in perpetual fright and create a fear psychosis among them, said the intelligence sources.Railway source said because of the heightened vigilance and the monitoring of the tracks, the incidents of stoning of running trains have stopped in the area. Earlier, the running trains used to be stoned at the Kalanad tunnel near Kasargod station and also in Manjeswaram.
