Peshawar: In Pakistan, the PPP and the PML-N resume a joint meeting to finalise the chargesheet against President Pervez Musharraf. The chargesheet is likely to list more than a 100 charges.

The Punjab Provincial assembly has also passed a resolution asking Pervez Musharraf to take a confidence vote in 4 provincial assemblies and the senate.

Musharraf had earlier refused Punjab Governor Salman Tasseer when he offered him a safe passage out of Pakistan, if he resigned.

The all important session of the national assembly to take up the impeachment motion against Musharraf began on Monday.

The process is likely to take two to three weeks.

The session remains adjourned till 5 pm on Monday.

However, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that the session will continue till a decision on Musharraf is taken.

Leading US Senator Tom Harkin said Musharraf should step down.

The Democratic Party made it clear that the US could not offer the Pakistani leader a blank cheque any longer.

The party described him as an undemocratic leader and blamed him for mishandling the war on terror.

The comments formed part of the draft platform to be adopted at the Democratic Party's convention next month.

The chargesheet document details allegations of misconduct, violation of the constitution and accuses Musharraf of benefiting from the eight billion dollars in US aid that has flown into Pakistan in the last eight years.
