New Delhi: The marathon flame has arrived from Athens for the Mumbai Marathon to be held on January 17. Every year, the 'Marathon Flame' is lit in Greece and then relayed across the world to any one country hosting a world-class marathon.

This year the flame has come to India. Rahul Bose, Dhanraj Pillai, Tara Sharma, Gul Panag and Milind Soman will be among the celebrities to carry the torch.

The flame, borne in a four-foot long and four-pound lantern, was brought from the historic Greek city of Marathon to Mumbai by Greece’s champion marathon runner Maria Polyzou and was received by Deputy Mayor of Mumbai Shraddha Jadhav and Bollywood star John Abraham.

The flame would be lit by Jadhav on the morning of January 10 at the international airport for the commencement of the relay that will bring it to Hutatma Chowk in South Mumbai to light another 15-foot high cauldron, organisers Procam International announced.
