New Delhi: A court in Madhya Pradesh on Monday issued summons to Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra in a defamation case.
The defamation case was filed by her former secretary Prakash Jajoo.
First Class Judicial Magistrate Rajkumar Verma directed the actress to appear before the court on May 19.
Jajoo alleged that Priyanka had leveled baseless allegations against him in an interview to a magazine.
In his complaint, he said the Priyanka had described him as a ‘cheat’, ‘mad’ and ‘one who indulged in forgery’.
Priyanka’s local lawyer has confirmed that the summons had been issued to his client.
Earlier, in another case a court in Indore had directed Priyanka and her father Ashok Chopra to appear before the court in connection with a case filed by Jajoo.
Jajoo had alleged in his complaint under Section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC that gangster Chhota Shakeel had threatened him over phone on behalf of the Chopras for settling a financial dispute between Priyanka and him for an amount of Rs 1.37 crore.
In 2006, Asian magazine Eastern Eye voted Bollywood beauty as the Sexiest Asian Woman.
Priyanka, who according to Hollywood North Report, may be Hollywood director Joss Whedon's choice for the role of the Amazonian Princess in his next Wonder Woman film, was surprised but more than happy to accept the honour.
