Puducherry CM, leaders pay tribute to Periyar

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy paid tributes Periyar E V Ramaswami, the founder of Dravidar Kazhagam, on his 133rd birth anniversary on Saturday. He garlanded the Periyar statue at Kamaraj Salai here. Speaker V Sabapathy and MLAs were among others who offered floral tributes to Periyar. DMK state convener and former Chief Minister R V Janakiraman, AIADMK legislators Om Sakthi Sekar, Purushothaman, Periyasamy, Baskar and leaders of CPI, VCK, MDMK, Dravidar Kazhagam and Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam also paid their respect to the rationalist leader. Meanwhile, in Tindivanam, PMK founder S Ramadoss garlanded a statue of Periyar. In Cuddalore, AIADMK leaders, including ex-MLA K Ayyappan and town secretary Kumaran garlanded a statue. Also in the town, DMK state student wing secretary ILA Pughazendhi, paid floral tributes.
