Rajhara coal mine caves in, 2 women die

Two women were on Thursday buried alive while two others sustained injuries as they were carrying out illegal mining in Palamu district, police said.

The deceased identified as Sulekha Devi and Renu Devi (both residents of Padwa village) were buried alive when the shed of the colliery caved in, said Superintendent YS Ramesh.

They were engaged in illegal mining in the Rajhara colliery of Central Coalfied Ltd. The injured have been admitted to the District Hospital, Medininagar, where the condition of one of them is stated to be serious.
