Politics over tragedy: BJP, Congress in a bitter war of words over the Uttarakhand rescue operations.

As the full extent of devastation and deaths in Uttarakhand comes to the fore, political parties have been busy in trying to make political capital even out of a tragedy of these proportions. Will India's politicians ever rise above their differences to unite at a time of national exigency? CNN-IBN's Deputy Bureau Chief Pallavi Ghosh joined IBNLive readers for an interaction on the issue.

Q. Isn't the culture of Breaking News every minute responsible for this. Asked by: Rahul

A. How? Netas need to be netas and be restrained.

Q. Don't you think both BJP and Congress are shedding crocodile tears for getting Votes or scoring brownie points? Asked by: Lakshmikanth

A. Absolutely the real work being done by forces and NGOs and the local people

Q. Internal threats have never united the various parties. Only an external aggression had brought them together. Every weakness of an opponent is an opportunity for the other one to exploit and pull down the opponent. Is this not the fact of the dark side of the real politics? Asked by: sundar1950in

A. Agree after initially saying politics should be kept out they all do just that.

Q. Too many spokespersons of both parties and not in tandem, at times, with party;s views. Should the parties limit their spokespersons? Asked by: sundar1950in

A. No parties should restrain their spokespersons.

Q. The political bitterness on either side, does not have nation's interest in heart. The actions seem to be aimed to Vote targeting. Will this pay off ?? Asked by: sundar1950in

A. Yes and they are doing injustice to those who died and fought back

Q. Can you expect an all party to meet to work out plans for rehabilitation of affected locals and infrastructure development to keep tourism alive over the affected areas? Asked by: sundar1950in

A. There should have been an all party to at least condole or even a special cabinet but no one cared.

Q. Surprisingly the Union Ministry of tourism did nothing when most of the affected were tourists. Is it because they were domestic tourists. Does the tourism ministry have no count of domestic tourists as their target group? Asked by: sundar1950in

A. They offered money see ministries don't need to get on what tourism ministry must do now is to rebuild the tourism industry in the state where's in source of income is tourism.

Q. Mam, as you have covered congress party for so long, would like to ask you y is Rahul Gandhi mum on disasters, big political events or issues consistently drawing the attention of the crowd. In Uttarakhand's case he went there, but was late, and he hasn't spoken a word about relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations.. why? Asked by: satyendra

Q. Why are media blaming political parties for playing politics over tragedy? If any party/NGO/people wants to help other for name and fame whats wrong in that practically? After all public is in benefit..right? Asked by: Swapnil Harsh

A. Be quad instead of. Fusing each other the parties can stand together and help

A. Today Sushma constantly tweeted that state govt should go now is not the time for this can be kept for later.

Q. Is the govt serious enough today to purchase latest weather monitoring system for these type of area as they are the most effected by climate and people causalities. Asked by: Manav

A. Not now work needs to be done but he certainly shld apologise

Q. Request of HM discouraging VVIP visit followed by INC VP going on a chopper to affected site was a faux paus. A sloppy defence and denial fell flat on visuals on media. Was it a right show by a ruling national party ?? Asked by: sundar1950in
