Coming out in support of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, Excise Minister M P Renukacharya said that the BJP was “not inevitable” for the Lingayat strongman.
On Yeddyurappa’s recent statements that he was considering to quit the saffron party, he told reporters here on Wednesday that for the former CM, the BJP is not inevitable, but the latter needs him. “In the best interest of the party he must be made the state party president. The high command too had promised him of making the state president,” he said adding that the former CM was hurt by recent developments in the party.
In the 2008 elections, people gave mandate to Yeddyurappa for five years, but he was removed from the CM’s post on mere allegations of corruption, Renukacharya claimed.
