VELLORE: The public protested against an existing TASMAC outlet at the Vasanthapuram area in Vellore and forcibly locked down the shop, on Tuesday.For a while now, people have been complaining about the existence of a TASMAC outlet right within a residential area. On Tuesday, local residents gathered before the shop, protested against its operation and later locked it up. During the protest, they alleged that people coming to the bar loiter in the area in an inebriated condition and create problems. Vellore South Police Inspector Annadurai arrived at the spot and promised to take action soon. He also held talks with the officials of TASMAC. The public then dispersed and gave a grace time of 10 days for the bar operators to move out of the area and set up shop elsewhere.
