PUDUCHERRY: The Tirunallar temple town development was initiated project after obtaining loans from HUDCO worth Rs 163 crore. Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu who reviewed the new tourism projects at Karaikal said that the Nalankulam tank of the temple was being renovated at a cost of `7.30 crore. “I have directed the officials to complete the work before December so that it is ready for the Sanipayerchi festival,” Rajavelu told Express on Saturday. Land has been acquired at a cost of `18.70 crore for the development project. A queue complex on similar lines of Tirupathi Devasthanam, provisions for rooms as well as shopping facilities was in the plan. The Thirunallar bus stand was also being developed to facilitate devotees visiting the temple town. The government was also focusing on rural tourism in Karaikal by developing two lakes Nalambal and Agaraman kudi, he added.Further a family entertainment centre, an amphitheatre and three tourism information centres were in the pipeline.
