SABARIMALA: The hill abode of Lord Ayyappa was closed on Saturday evening after the conclusion of the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Idavam.Laksharchana was the special ritual held on the concluding day.The ritual began after performing poojas on the brahmakalasam by Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu after usha pooja in the presence of Melsanthi G Balamurali. Fifteen vedic experts participated in the chanting. The ritual concluded with the Thantri performing kalasabhishekam from the brahamakalasam during the uchcha pooja.Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam were the other special rituals held. Udayasthamana pooja, pushpabhishekam and padi pooja were also conducted.The temple was closed at 10 p m after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam.Temple to Reopen on May 30.Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer M Satheeshkumar said that the hill shrine would reopen on May 30 for the idol reinstallation anniversary, slated to be celebrated on May 31. “Kalabhabhishekam would be the special ritual to be conducted in the temple as part of the anniversary celebration,” he said.Satheeshkumar said udayasthamana pooja, pushpabhishekam and padi pooja would be the other rituals. “The temple would be closed on May 31 evening after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam,” he said.
