HYDERABAD: The state secretariat which has been quiet for the past few days due to Dasara festival and Delhi visit of ruling party leaders at the invitation of Congress high command for talks on the Telangana issue, is set to witness protests from Monday as part of the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme of Telangana JAC.The Telangana employees who have been on strike for the past three weeks, have decided to intensify their stir from Monday onwards demanding a separate state. After the proposed Maha Dharna at Indira Park, the T employees will meet on October 11 to chalk out their future course of action. It may be recalled that the protests and demonstrations of Telangana employees behind the J Block had ‘forced’ chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to enter the Secretariat through the exit gate due to blockade of the path leading to the main entrance. The T protests on the secretariat premises had even ‘made’ the chief minister work from his camp office without coming to his official chamber for a few days. The striking staff had also forced Telangana minister D Sridhar Babu to abruptly leave a joint press conference addressed by him along with Seemandhra ministers N Raghuveera Reddy and Vatti Vasanta Kumar on `1-a-kg subsidised rice scheme.Talking to Express, Telangana Secretariat Employees’ JAC chairman Narender Rao asserted that the employees were determined to continue the strike till the Centre announces a roadmap for formation of separate T state. He hoped that the Congress-led UPA Government would arrive at a clear cut decision on Telangana by Monday evening after the end of consultations with the party leaders. When asked about their recent Delhi visit, Rao said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told the employees’ delegation that the Central government was trying to find an amicable solution to the T issue, which will be beneficial to people of both Telangana and Seemandhra regions.“We (Telangana employees) have received positive signals from the Centre during our visit to Delhi,” he claimed. He said though the UPA government was mentally prepared to take a positive decision on Telangana, it was anticipating trouble from Seemandhra leaders who are against bifurcation of the state. JAC secretary general G Suresh Kumar said the striking government employees of nine Telangana districts did not get salaries for the 12 days they worked in September.Only employees of Hyderabad got salaries for the 12 working days.In fact, no pay bills have been submitted to the treasury department in those districts due to participation of all government employees in the Samme, he said.
