Mumbai Continuing with its slide, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive fell by a massive 168 points in early trading to go below the 8000 point level on Wednesday on selling by foreign funds.
The BSE index which had closed nearly 80 points lower on Tuesday 8122.25 points, opened significantly down at 8066.06 plunged further to 7954.20 points, a steep fall of 168.05.
Big companies like Infoysys, Reliance industries, Satyam Computer, Bajaj Auto, ACC fell sharply on heavy selling by foreign as well as domestic funds.
The market remained nervous and discounted the expectation of better working result to be announced by technology giant Wipro corporation, which went a little higher at Rs 377.00 at open, declined by Rs 1.30 to trade at 372.00.
Similarly the white base national index Nifty was down by 44.70 points at 2423.50 in first ten minute of trading.
