Mumbai: In a setback to actor Sanjay Dutt, the Maharashtra government has ordered an inquiry into grant of repeated furloughs to him, Minister of State for Home Ram Shinde in Mumbai on Friday.

Dutt was granted 14-day furlough earlier this week. He was released from Pune's Yerawada jail on Christmas eve.

Dutt is serving a 42-month sentence in a case related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts. He has spent over 118 days out of jail either on parole or furlough from May 2013 to May this year.

In September last year, Dutt was granted his first 14-day furlough on medical grounds so that he could treat a leg pain. This was later extended by 14 more days.

In December last year, he was granted a 30-day parole citing his wife Manyata's ill health and it was later extended twice.

Now, the Maharashtra government has ordered a probe into the repeated furloughs to the actor.
