KADAPA: Seven persons including three children were killed in a ghastly road mishap near Bandapalle village of Ramapuram mandal on Sunday.Reportedly, one of the tyres of a sand-laden lorry got punctured, the vehicle went out of control and rammed into an autorickshaw.Seven people in the autorickshaw including the driver died on the spot.The victims have been identified as autodriver Mubarak (25), Peeran Bhi (62), her daughter-in-law Taslim (25), grandsons Mastan (4) and Mohammed (3), accompanied by neighbours Tarik (16) and Ruksana (25) from Bandlapenta area in Rayachoti town.They were on their way to Bandapalle village in Ramapuram on Kurnool-Chittoor highway, when the accident took place.The impact of the collision was such that the autorickshaw was left a mangled wreck of metal and the bodies of the occupants were crushed.After colliding with the autorickshaw, the lorry fell sideways on the road and its diesel tank caught fire due to friction with the road. The lorry went up in flames.On being alerted, Lakkireddypalle, Rayachoti and Ramapuram police led by CIs Sudhakar, Ravikumar and SI Narasimhulu rushed to the spot along with fire tenders and ambulance. The fire was dowsed and the road was cleared for the traffic which had come to a standstill for almost an hour. The lorry driver had reportedly jumped out of the vehicle, when he lost control of it and escaped from the spot. Police have registered a case.
