THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Secretary Rajeev Sadanandan has issued an order cancelling the admission the managements made on their own to 50 percent government quota seats for medical PG courses.Admissions to the seats will now be made from the government quota. The list has been published. The order is applicable to the dental courses too.The order said the decision was based on the extension given by the Supreme Court for medical PG admission. The extension will be applicable to the self-financing colleges as per the order. The Director of Medical Education will conduct fresh allotment to these seats soon. However, admission to the PG seats will be subject to a decision on the writ petitions pending before the High Court.Orders regarding the fee structure in the government merit seats will be issued separately.Justice P R Ramachandra Menon had recently stayed the medical PG admission in selffinancing medical colleges while considering a petition by Dr Pournami Mohan and two others who contended that colleges were arbitrarily giving merit seat admissions without following Medical Council of India regulations.
