Mumbai: In a fresh twist to the murder case allegedly involving Indrani Mukherjea, Mumbai Police is probing how her daughter Sheena Bora's resignation letter to her employers was sent days after her death. Sheena's resignation letter was sent in May 2012, while the police have confirmed that she was killed on April 24, 2012.
The Mumbai Police had on Wednesday claimed that Sheena Bora was killed by former Star India CEO Peter Mukherjea's wife Indrani Mukherjea, her driver and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna. The police said Sheena was strangulated to death on April 24, 2012 and her body was also set on fire. The charred remains of the body were recovered a month later, the police said.
Police on Wednesday evening arrested Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna in Kolkata and she was arrested by Mumbai Police on Tuesday night. A police team is also at the residence of Indrani's current husband Peter Mukerjea in Mumbai.
Peter on Wednesday said that he was not aware that the deceased woman Sheena was Indrani's daughter and not her sister. "I met Sheena on several occasions. She was staying as a PG in Mumbai and used to visit our place several times. I also helped her in her admission in Xavier's college," he said.
According to sources, during her interrogation, Indrani claimed that Sheena is her own daughter from her previous marriage. However, Sheena was introduced to Mumbai society as Indrani’s sister. Mumbai Police is verifying Indrani's claims.
Claiming that he is sure that Sheena was killed, Sheena's brother Mikhail Bora confirmed that both he and Sheena are Indrani's children. "My sister was killed, I have no doubt about that, I had no clue when Sheena was dead, whenever I checked, Indrani always claimed Sheena is abroad and busy with her studies," he said.
He added that Indrani has not been in touch with him since 2014. Speaking from Guwahati, he said that Sheena and he lived in Guwahati till 2004. He also said he has not been able to establish contact with Sheena since 2004.
