BANGALORE: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to build a ‘Community Lifestyle Centre’ near the Metro terminus at Byappanahalli.Similar to the India Habitat Centre in Delhi, the city’s centre will be constructed on the 10.15 acres of land around the Byappanahalli station.BMRCL has drawn up the project plan and has begun inviting tenders from prospective builders.Estimated at the cost of Rs. 601.40 crores, the plan of the project is to build a centre that will host a multifaceted convention hall and other facilities to house expos and exhibitions.As an integrated property development project, BMRCL also plans to build a 3-star category business hotel, an exclusive business centre with institutional office space and corporate guest houses. Additionally, a part of the land will also be utilised for a multiplex, multi-cuisine restaurants, coffee shops and a supermarket.“We have invited tenders for the project. The design of the centre will be clear only after the tender is awarded. However, we will consider the requirements of the locality and have also specified minimum development goals that have to be followed by the prospective builder,” said N Sivasailam, Managing Director, BMRCL.The prospective builder will design, build, operate and maintain the project during the 40-year concession period. As the Managing Director of BMRCL specifies, the builder, however, has to fulfil the minimum development goal within the first four years. While Reach 1 of Namma Metro, will be up and running in the next ten days, BMRCL aims to attract good business opportunities in the coming days.
