HYDERABAD: Six persons, including four women, drowned while two others were rescued in separate incidents on the outskirts of the city today.In Pahadisharief, six persons went to Ibrahim Sagar lake at Jalpally for a picnic today. According to police, a family from Moin Nagar, Mohd Fahim (45), Shabana Begum (35) and their son, Arbaz (11), came to their relative, Uzma Begum’s house at Ghouse Nagar in Bandlaguda two days back.This morning, Fahim’s family, along with Uzma (20), her sister, Hazera (17) and their relative, Shabana (14), went to Ibrahim Sagar.After spending sometime on the banks of the lake, Uzma and Shabana Begum entered the waters. After going deep into the water, they began screaming for help as they were drowning.To rescue the duo, the remaining four also entered the lake and they began drowning.Luckily for Uzma and Shabana Begum, they could catch hold of a branch of a tree in the lake and hung on to it. Hearing cries of the remaining four family members, locals rushed to the lake and pulled them out and shifted them to a hospital.Later, Uzma and Shabana were also pulled out from the water.Of the four, Fahim, Hazera and Shabana died while being shifted to the hospital.The condition of Arbaz is said to be serious.Meanwhile, at Medchal, three members of a family drowned in Pedda cheruvu at Athvelly.According to Medchal police inspector V Yadagiri Reddy, V Manjula (20), V Venkata Lakshmi (16) and K Ganesh (15) went to the lake to wash clothes.They were accompanied by Venkata Lakshmi’s sister, Lakshmi (12). “Venkata Lakshmi slipped and fell into the waters. Seeing her drown, Ganesh, who can swim, entered the water to save her. Venkata Lakshmi managed to catch him and both began drowning when Manjula also entered the water.Lakshmi, who was on the banks, alerted locals who pulled out the trio but could not save them, the inspector said.
