CHENNAI: As many as six persons were detained by the Civil Supplies CID here on Friday. An official release said they tried to smuggle rice to neighbouring states. Hakkim alias Abdul Kahhim (27) of Karumbukadai, Coimbatore, tried to smuggle PDS rice to Kerala. Fifteen quintals of rice and a van were seized from him.Poolavadi Subramani was also arrested on similar charges.Sivanandam (39) of Anuppampalayam Pudur and Meganathan alais Kaalai of Cuddalore were held for smuggling 30 quintals and 20 quintals of PDS rice, respectively. Kaliraj of Sankaran Koil and Raja of Krishnagiri were also arrested.
