Days after a 7-year-old girl Jiya was hit by a speeding car just after being dropped from the school bus, no arrest has been made in the case.
The Ryan International student was hit by a speeding car while crossing the road after her bus allegedly dropped her on the wrong side of the road.
The school bus driver and the driver of the car which hit Jiya, are absconding.
Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18 on the developments in the case, ACP Hawa Singh said that the arrest is imminent.
"The car which caused the accident, we don't have its number. Search is underway and an arrest is imminent. If anyone from the school was negligent, that too will be probed", he said.
When asked if the school bus driver was responsible, Singh said, "We have to see which side the driver left the kids. All this will have to be investigated and then only can we comment on the extent of individual guilt. We have not yet identified the car's number. The probe is till on. As far as the driver is concerned, we are working as per the law. The girl's condition is said to be stable now but she is still in the hospital."
