The AP High Court on Monday stayed implementation of GO 90 permitting registration of 20,000 new autorickshaws.
PV Krishnaiah, the counsel for petitioner Raju who is also an advocate, contended that the impugned GO did not specify whether it has permitted only four-stroke or two-stroke engine autorickshaws as the latter kind were a source of pollution for which reason they were banned in the first place.
Also, the GO was issued without obtaining any report or opinion from the AP Pollution Control Board or other statutory bodies.
He urged the court not to allow registration of two-stroke engine autorickshaws in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
The bench directed the authorities to file their counter affidavits on the plea
