Chennai: Santa bells came ringing for children of pavement dwellers in Chennai as they celebrated Christmas in a luxury hotel thanks to a charity organization that has been providing education and help to underprivileged children for the past four years now.
This was the fourth Christmas party for the children residing and studying in `Siragu' (wings), a residential school situated in Chennai. It was a dream sight for the 61poor children who entered the hall of a luxury hotel in the city, decorated with flowers, balloons and colourful lights to celebrate Christmas.
The organization started this project in 2003 to provide free quality education for the children of pavement dwellers in the city.
Children joy knew no bounds when the star of the party, Santa Claus arrived bearing gifts. After a carol programme performed by kids, the children watched cartoon programmes in big screen. They too danced, sang and played around the hall. To cap it all, a hearty buffet followed.
A generous Santa, a bunch of young characters, cheery carol, delightful clowns, party games and a lavish buffet, the party had all the makings of a grand Christmas celebration.
With tiny hearts jingling with joy, the scene brought back the mood of the silent, misty morning in a manger two thousand years ago.
