KOCHI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday said that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram would land in jail when the spectrum case comes up again before the court on March 16. Delivering a lecture on corruption in high places at SCMS, Kalamassery, on Tuesday, Swamy elaborated on his efforts to book the culprits in the 2G scam. Referring to the magnitude of the scam, Swamy pointed out how the Prevention of Corruption Act enables citizens to take up corruption issues. “There are so many good laws in our country. I wrote to the Prime Minister five times, asking clearance for including A Raja in the case. There was no response. “Then I approached the court. According to the Prevention of Corruption Act, a citizen can be a public prosecutor. When I pointed out that citing the relevant section, the judge saideven he was not aware of such a provision,” Swamy said. The lower court has issued a verdict in favour of P Chidambaram in the case. However, when the case comes up again before the court, we hope to send Chidambaram to jail, Swamy said.
