Taekwondo player killed after dispute with friend over payment for momos
A Taekwondo player was killed after having argument with his friend over payment for momos.

New Delhi: A 19-year-old taekwondo player was allegedly killed after a dispute with a friend over payment for momos at a roadside eatery in outer Delhi's Rohini sub-city, police said on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Arun, who has participated in several national level taekwondo events.

The incident came to light on Friday night after Arun's father approached Rohini (South) police station to lodge a missing complaint and a body recovered by the police from near a prominent hospital in the area earlier in the day turned out to be his son's, police said.

A case of murder was registered in connection with the matter, following which a police team was constructed to nab a youth named Ranjit and a momo vendor in the area, who are the prime suspects in the case.

According to police, Arun went out with his friend Ranjit on Thursday evening and both were last seen at a roadside eatery, where Arun had an argument with Ranjit and the vendor over payment for momos they had eaten.

The argument turned into a scuffle during which one of them allegedly smashed a bottle on Arun's head.

The accused then carried Arun till Jaipur Golden hospital there and left him near a garbage dump, where he succumbed to his injuries.

His body was found on Friday morning but identity could not be ascertained until his father approached later in the evening to lodge missing complaint, police added.
