CHENNAI: TANKER (TamilNad Kidney Research) Foundation which is a registered non-profitable charitable trust today inaugurated a new mobile Ultrasound Machine which can run scans even without electricity, with its rechargeable batteries. This is the first mobile Ultrasound Machine for TANKER, and is used for scanning, detecting the size of the kidney and thereby also identifying the stones in the kidney.The main motive behind the induction of the machine, as Georgi Abraham, one of the members of TANKER said, "TANKER to reach the people and not have people trying to reach them". Another advisor of the foundation, Rajalakshmi Ravi stated, "Creating awareness about kidney diseases through students in schools is the best channel to reach their parents.  It was jointly inaugurated by Bharathi Dhala, Chief Radiologist, Medall Healthcare (Precision Diagnostics),  S Gopalakrishnan, Zonal Manager - Central Bank of India and S Kannan, Advisor of the board, Central bank of India; all of them assured their support for TANKER foundation.  They have conducted 23 nephrology camps covering 2700 people. This is a recurring process where they conduct 2 screening camps every month. They have also organised screening camps in places like Ambattur, Padur, Pudhupakkam, Madurai etc, where 41927 people received the care that they needed. The Central Bank of India came forward today to donaote `5 lakhs for this Ultrasound Machine machine and its accessories.
