Burdwan: A tantrik who allegedly took the blood of his brother to use in his rituals was detained from his house in Burdwan district, police said.
Police raided their Kanchan Nagar village house falling under Burdwan police station after neighbours lodged a complaint in this regard following which the tantrik, identified as Shubhajit Chanda, 40, was detained.
They also rescued his brother Shamik and admitted him to hospital, police said.
According to villagers, Chanda has been drawing the blood of his brother Shamik for the past one and a half months. Shamik was not seen outside his home during this period and the neighbours became suspicious when they peeked from an open window and found him lying in his bed looking very ill.
The police were then informed.
The tantrik has been taken to Burdwan police station for interrogation. The doctors attending on Shamik were not immediately
available for comment on his health.
Three swords and some dolls used in tantrik practice were seized from the house, police said.
