HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress leaders have decided to convene an extended steering committee meeting within one week to prepare a new action plan to intensify the movement for Telangana state. The leaders met at panchayat raj minister Jana Reddy's residence here on Monday. MPs, MLAs and other leaders attended. At the hourlong meeting the leaders came to the opinion that the Centre would not take a decision on Telangana before November 21 when Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati was likely to introduce a resolution in the state Assembly demanding division of the state into four.If Mayawati moved a resolution for division of her state, it would also help the Telangana cause and influence the Centre's thinking, Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao said. The leaders decided to finalise a strategy on their role in the coming Parliament session which commences on November 22. Some MPs said they would approach the Lok Sabha speaker with the demand for acceptance of their resignations if the Centre continued to delay a decision on Telangana.Noting that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and other antiTelangana forces were trying to divide Telangana Congress leaders, they urged all leaders and workers to stay united. They also decided to work jointly with other Telangana forces to achieve the goal.Briefing reporters on the deliberations, Gutta Sukhendar Reddy said they were sending reports on the situation to AICC president Sonia Gandhi's office regularly. Replying to a question he said they never sought AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad's intervention to solve the Telangana issue.
