BHUBANESWAR: Hundreds of students, jawans of 120 Battalion and CRPF, sportspersons, TV and film personalities and activists participated in the mini marathon organised by Odisha Television Network (OTV ) to mark the 23rd World AIDS Day on Thursday. The marathon was flagged off by Health and Family Welfare Minister Prasanna Acharya in the presence of OTV Director Jagi Mangat Panda and associate vice-president of OTV Ratikant Satpathy. “Awareness about HIV/AIDS is the key to prevent the disease. The marathon is being organised for the last three years to sensitise people about AIDS and inspire them to run for a healthy and positive life,” said Satpathy. Marathons on this day are organised across the world to encourage people to express solidarity with the infected people by cutting across socio-economic barriers. The slogan for this year’s mini marathon was ‘Let’s run towards life’. The marathon which started from the Infocity main gate culminated at the Kalinga Stadium. Singers Kuldeep and Viraj of Voice of Odisha fame and members of Vighnanz Band performed at a function at the stadium. The function was attended by Police Commissioner BK Sharma and thespian Mihir Das among others.
