New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan's recent injury on the sets of Farah Khan's new film 'Happy New Year' has once again reiterated the fact that often, adequate safety measures are not taken on film sets.Over the years several actors have got injured while shooting for a film including Shah Rukh Khan himself.
While Shah Rukh's injury has been a minor one, in the past many actors have had to undergo surgery owing to accidents that occurred while they were shooting on a film set. Here is a look at some other actor's whose injuries made headlines.
Amitabh Bachchan
The entire nationa almost came to a standstill when the news of superstar Amitabh Bachchan's accident on the sets of 'Coolie' broke in 1983. While filming an action sequence with actor Puneet Issar, Bachchan suffered near-fatal intestinal injury. Bachchan was performing is own stunt and had to fall on a table, however the corner of the table struck his abdomen which led to a rupture of the intestine. Big B lost a lot of blood and was in the hospiatl for a long time.
Shah Rukh Khan
He is not alien to injuries and accidents while on shoots. The actor suffered a shoulder injury while shooting for 'Dulha Mil Gaya' in 2009. The actor also suffered back injury while he was shooting for 'Shakti'. The actor has suffered three broken ribs, a twisted ankle, broken right toe, neck injury, broken backbone and injured his left knee in his two deacade long career.
Aishwarya Rai
While shooting for 'Khakee', Ashwarya Rai suffered a fracture on her left foot and deep bruises as she was hit by a jeep on the sets which lost control. The actress was advised bed rest for a month.
Vivek Oberoi
While shooting for 'Yuva' in 2004, the actor fractured his leg while performing a stunt. The scene involved Oberoi running past several stationary vehicles while a man on a motorcycle chased him. Vivek fell and the motorcycle accidentally rode over his left leg.
Hrithik Roshan
The actor suffered back injuries while shooting for 'Agneepath' in 2011 and had to go through MRI. Then while performing stunts for 'Bang Bang' the actor had suffered head injury which had to operated on later.
Akshay Kumar
The actor who is known to perform high risk stunts on his own has got injured several times while shooting. The actor had lifted WWE wrestler, The Undertaker, for a scene in 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' and in the process injured his back severely and has not been able to recover from the acute pain till date. Then recently, while shooting for 'Rowdy Rathore' he injured his shoulder during the climax scene.
Salman Khan
The actor had a ligament injury in his arm while shooting for 'Wanted'. The injury aggravated when he was shooting action sequence for 'Dabangg'. As a result, shooting of the film was postponed for several days as the actor was advised rest.
Abhishek Bachchan
While filming for 'Bol Bachchan' the actor got a deep gash right above his right eye and had to get stitches done. The actor also suffered injuries in his hand and shoulder. Shooting was stalled for few hours but the actor went back to sets soon after.
Ranveer Singh
The actor cut his foot during the shooting of 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela' and while shooting for 'Gunday' got a nasty gash on his cheek. The actor seem to be prone to accidents as he had also suffered a back injury while filming 'Lootera'.
