HYDERABAD: Train services will come to a halt from October 12 to 14 in Telangana region, as the TJAC has called for a 3-day rail roko. The rail roko in Telangana region would also badly hit the train movement in the state and also disrupt interstate train services. In a strategic move, the TJAC on Friday suddenly announced postponement of the proposed three-day rail roko agitation originally scheduled to be held on October 9, 10 and 11. This is the third rail roko by the TJAC in the recent past.It has successfully organised 48-hour rail roko twice so far.As part of the rail roko, the TJAC would put up tents and organise vanta-varpu on the rail tracks. Though, the state government and the railways are gearing up to face the challenge, the TJAC categorically stated that if the railways wants to run the trains, they would have to face the consequences.Union minister of state for railways KH Muniyappa said they would run the trains with police force.Chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi held a high- level meeting with railway officials and the police. If the government uses police force, the rail roko would turn violent, TRS politburo member B Vinod Kumar has said. The 1,000 km long track would be blocked by T activists and they would cook food and organise cultural programmes on the tracks, he added.Impact of Rail RokoRail roko agitation will disconnect north-south link in the country.Movement of all south-bound trains or trains originating from southern states would be affected. It would also affect the movement of rakes carrying coal to power plants. The TJAC leaders are planning to organise yatras in the SCCL areas and motivate the miners working in Khammam to join the strike. When once the coal production is stopped completely in the state, the TJAC plans to disrupt train services so that trains carrying coal from other states would not be able to bring coal.
