Hyderabad: Breaking his silence over the buzz surrounding his possible entry into politics, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi on Saturday said the hype was the "creation of the media" but appeared to keep his options open.
The actor also asked his fans to "maintain restraint till he speaks out".
"Without my involvement, media has been carrying stories that I am launching a political party. I have not authorised any individual or organisation to speak on my behalf," he said in a brief statement here.
However, Chiranjeevi did not rule out taking the plunge into politics, keeping the hopes of his fans still alive.
"I am deeply touched by the outpouring of public affection and love for me. I appeal to you to be patient and remain calm till I speak out on my own," he said.
His statement comes against the backdrop of rallies and public meetings being held across the state by his fans in anticipation of their hero's entry into politics.
"I have never asked anyone to organise public meetings and rallies. But, I am moved by the way people have reacted to the (media) reports," the megastar said.
Chiranjeevi's fans organised rallies in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Eluru, Narsapur, Karimnagar and other cities across the state.
