Chandrasekhara Rao’s resignation from Lok Sabha accepted, party now has four MPs in the House.

New Delhi: The Telengana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Saturday withdrew support to the Congress-led UPA coalition government at the Centre.

TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao said he has sent a letter to President A P J Abdul Kalam that he is not with the government.

"The UPA government has failed to keep its promise made in the CMP (common minimum programme) on the formation of the separate state of Telengana even after achieving clear consensus and as a protest TRS is withdrawing the support to the government with immediate effect, the letter said.

Rao said Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, has accepted his resignation from the membership of the House. TRS now has four members in the Lok Sabha.

He sent a letter to Chatterjee on September 12 quitting his Karimnagar seat following a fight with Andhra Congress leaders who challenged him to quit Lok Sabha seat and seek fresh mandate on the separate Telangana issue.

Rao, along with his party colleague A Narendra, quit the UPA ministry on August 22.
