HYDERABAD: A joint meeting of TRS Politburo and MLAs has decided that party should contest the byelection for the Parakal Assembly seat from Warangal district to be announced soon.The entry of TRS into the electoral fray in the constituency is sure to bestir the political activity since the CPI and the BJP, which are also fighting for creation of a Telangana state, too are keen on contesting the election. The TRS is confident that it can defeat Konda Surekha, a strong supporter of Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The TRS has already declared that it will equate Reddy, Naidu and Jagan, saying that all of them are opposed to state’s division. The pink party has entrusted the responsibility of selecting a suitable candidate to the party’s election committee headed by Nayani Narasimha Reddy. According to party sources, former MP Chada Suresh Reddy, former DGP Pervaram Ramulu, party district president P Sudarshan Reddy and another leader Bhikshapati are among the aspirants to party ticket. The committee, after assessing the strengths and weaknesses of all the ticket-seekers, will make its recommendation to the party.Disclosing the decisions taken by the joint meeting held here on Monday, T Harish Rao (MLA) said his party would romp home in spite of two national parties entering the fray. “We are not ready to disclose our strategy but we will show our strength and popularity at the hustings,’’ he said.The Politburo reviewed the situation in region and its performance in the recent byelections. It appointed a committee of party leaders to submit a report on the party’s defeat in the Mahbubnagar constituency.It decided to organise the party’s 11th anniversary meet at Vikarabad in Rangareddy district on April 27 on a low key. Nearly 200 delegates from each constituency in region will attend it. An organising committee headed by A Chandrasekhar has been formed to oversee arrangements for meeting.
